I've been playing almost every tournament in NC since 1990. That's a lot of events, and I have to say that this was the best event I have ever been to. The Wilmington Athletic Club is a great venue for this event. Charlie Hauser and his crew put together a tournament that is a racquetball player's dream IMO.  Great competition, food, and entertainment. He wrapped all that around a Tier 1 WPRO stop. He treats all the players right, and if you need something he will do his best to make sure you get it. The tie dye shirt and retro hat souvenirs, the lava lamp awards......and all the other small details really make this event. And the beer at this tournament never runs out.

The Beatles tribute band, BritishMania, at the Saturday night party, were something else. 3 hours of music, 3 costume thought you were back in time. Several of us went hippie with our costumes, and most of the other attendees were wearing their tie dye tournament shirts. The gym was decorated perfect and a bar was set up in the gym with free hog dogs, fresh popped popcorn, a local microbrewery keg, and wine. The keg ran out, but true to the tournament, the beer never did. Charlie always has a backup.

The women pros competed in an air guitar contest at the first set break, and it was a sight to see. Rhonda is definitely a star. She was awesome. Even Paola's normally shy demeanor was forgotten when she got involved. It was fun to to see all the women let loose and really enjoy themselves. The dance floor was full all night. Twisting to "A Hard Days Night" and "Twist and Shout" just doesn't get any better!

The hospitality room always had something to eat, and there was quite a variety. It was also decorated and a Retro racquetball museum was set up with old racquets, magazines and other memorabilia.

The competition was first class and the the women pros really put on a show. In the end it was #1 Rhonda Rajsich vs #2 Paola Longoria. Rhonda had to get by  #4 Kerri Wachtel and Paola beat #3 Cheryl Gudinas to get to the finals. Paola pulled out the win in a tough 4 game match.
